๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿฐ   Compliment Your Mirror

โ€œRest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summerโ€™s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.โ€- John Lubbock

Thank you all for accommodating schedule changes these past two weeks.  I appreciate your willingness to adjust your routines and your patience if responses were a little slower.  Some of you know that one of my favorite quotes is "Do one thing every day that scares you" - and that's precisely what this class offered me - a two-week immersion into one of the most anxiety-producing experiences of my life!  I was able to practice all the coping skills I know, and am  grateful to cross this off my bucket list!

And speaking of adventures and new experiences...

Most of us are starting to get out more and interact with friends, family, and the general public. Itโ€™s hopefully a welcome change, but certainly causing some stress as we adjust to the new normal.  While itโ€™s wonderful to hug our loved ones and see our friends smile, it may feel a bit awkward to find ourselves in close proximity to others after so many months of distancing.  It's okay to take things at whatever pace feels most comfortable for you, to maintain distance and/or to mask if you want, and to let others know what you need from them.  There continues to be differing guidance about keeping ourselves and our loved ones safe, and I think it's wise to err on the side of caution until we're assured that pandemic concerns are behind us.

This podcast was recently recommended to me, with the Quarantology episode offering a special focus on the traumatic impact of the pandemic and resulting grief:

(Many thanks to S for sharing this!)

Our self care has been focused on the basics for so long... perhaps the summer is a good time to take things slow and easy, to incorporate little indulgences like ice cream and beach days and evening walks and live music at an outdoor venue.  What were your favorite summer activities when you were a kid?  Do you still enjoy doing them?
