Hi, I’m Gretchen. I am a Clinical Social Worker and Leadership Coach with 20+ years of experience dedicated to helping navigate life's challenges.

I typically work with individuals aged 16-60(ish):

*Young adults exploring life and career goals
*Mid-career professionals feeling stuck or wanting to develop confidence and leadership skills
*College and grad students managing social and academic stress
*Individuals seeking to heal from trauma or grief, including suicide loss
*Individuals wanting to develop healthy relationship skills
*Empty nesters looking to write their next chapter
*LGBTQIA++ folx seeking affirming therapy (age 16+)
*Trans/NB folx considering gender-confirming surgery
*Family/friends of Trans/NB individuals learning to support their journey
*LEOs and Veterans

Therapy should be practical and useful, and focused on enjoying life.

My Approach

  • Therapy can take many forms depending on individual goals. I incorporate education, space to explore experiences and feelings, and support to develop realistic plans to resolve past traumas, manage current stresses, and build a successful future. Together we'll develop a holistic wellness plan that builds on gradual successes.

  • Transitions can be uncomfortable, but also full of opportunity. With compassion and gentle challenging, we can work together to face fear of change and manage growing pains. Therapy includes learning new skills that are transferrable to a variety of situations including relationships, career, personal and professional development, and managing the stresses we experience every day.

  • I utilize a psychodynamic approach with elements of mindfulness, Cognitive Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Strategic Family Therapy. Psycho-education and coaching also contribute to the therapeutic framework. I am certified in Rational Living Therapy (Level I) and Affirmative Therapy for Transgender Communities and I am working toward certification in nutrition counseling.

Credentials

  • A licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) is a trained mental health professional who holds a master's degree in social work and is licensed to provide therapy and counseling services. LCSWs work with individuals, families, and communities, addressing various mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance abuse. They focus not only on individual well-being but also on broader societal issues, advocating for change and social justice by tackling systemic barriers that affect marginalized groups, aiming to create more equitable and inclusive environments. Their role involves empowering clients to navigate challenges, fostering resilience, and advocating for policies that promote social change and fair access to resources and opportunities.
